Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information
Our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff, and community. In this unprecedented time, we are deeply committed to keeping everyone safe. Our practice adheres to infection control standards made by the ADA, CDC, and OSHA. This includes wearing personal protective gear, using hospital-grade disinfectants, practicing the latest sterilization protocols, utilizing single-use disposable materials when possible, and more.
We know you may have concerns about visiting a dental office during COVID-19, so we’ve prepared some information to help you get the information you need to help you feel routinely safe during treatment. We work very hard at Majestic Dentistry of Gastonia to ensure your safety and health during dental treatment and will be happy to show you what we do to protect against disease transmission.
Dentists are routinely exposed to several occupational hazards, including exposure to infections, hepatitis, ionizing radiation, eye injuries, allergic reactions, psychological and stress challenges. As a result, we are acutely aware of our patients’ concerns relating to these and other matters and take every precaution on their behalf, as we do for our own families, who also are patients in our practice.
In addition to our usual strict infection control protocols, adhering to the highest levels of sterilization and disinfection, we have implemented extra layers of protection following the latest CDC recommendations.
- Screen all patients with pre-screening and in-office questionnaire.
- Patients who are experiencing acute respiratory illness, including symptoms of fever, cough, loss of smell or taste, or shortness of breath, are instructed to remain home and reschedule appointments.
- Ask staff who are unwell to stay home.
- Using a no-contact forehead scanner to measure the temperature of all employees and patients.
- Placed hand-sanitizing stations throughout the office and require all employees and patients to use it at the entrance.
- Spaced reception seating six feet apart.
- Discourage patients from bringing companions to appointments (except when absolutely necessary).
- Install clear barriers at the front desk, spaced out appointments, reduced the number of seating (to maintain social distancing), and removed all non-essential items from common areas (toys, magazines, etc).
- Utilizing an air purifying device containing a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter in each operatory and staff areas.
- Utilizing PPE, including face shields, eye protection goggles, scrubs and coats, disposable masks, and gloves.
- Sterilizing all instruments pursuant to OSHA standards.
- Follow the American Dental Association (ADA), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) guidelines for dentists on coronavirus COVID-19.
- Adhere to respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette infection control measures to help prevent the transmission of all respiratory infections.
- We regularly check for updates on the CDC’s coronavirus infection control page for health care professionals.
- Monitor our supply of personal protective equipment (PPE). Our relationships with our long-term suppliers have made sure that we are well stocked with the equipment that we require to maintain our routinely strict infection control practices.
Before and after every patient and before the start of the day and at the end of the day, we use an OSHA-approved, EPA-registered high-level disinfectant to wipe every patient contact surface as well as countertops, chairs, and armrests. We also use plastic barriers on any surface that gloves may touch such as x-ray tube heads and light handles. We replace these plastic barriers before treating each patient.
By providing safe and responsible dental care, we are proud and ready to serve our patients and community. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have.
